An unforgettable tour that takes us to the summit of Monte Berlinghera, dominating the gateway between Lake Como, Valchiavenna and Valtellina.
A shuttle takes us to an altitude of 1200m where, after following a dirt road for 4km, we reach Alpe Pescedo at 1538m.
From here our portage begins. After about fifteen minutes of shouldering our bike, we soon arrive at Bocchetta di Chiaro at 1666m, a beautiful panoramic terrace between Valchiavenna and Alto Lario.
We then continue along the north-west ridge, climbing a much steeper path for about half an hour, until we reach the summit of Monte Berlinghera, at an altitude of 1930m.
The stunning view from the summit will be well worth our efforts.
Just enough time to recharge our batteries while admiring the views over Lake Como, Valtellina and Valchiavenna, and we are ready to tackle the first part of the descent along the south ridge of the mountain, a natural trail with rough ground and steep sections.
As we enter the woods, the trail becomes less steep and we end up at Alpe Pescedo. A short traverse and we take the wild Viking Trail, an enjoyable descent with burms and jumps through a forest of beech and fir trees.
A well-deserved break at the "Baita del Vikingo" with its legendary host, Marco, who provides us with an excellent lunch based on typical products!
We continue our descent from the Sentiero del Sensone, a succession of twists and turns among the chestnut trees, and to finish in style we take the brand-new Emotion Trail, a breathtaking single-track with steep slopes and steps as well as other technical sections!
A last stretch of mule track leads us to the lakeside, where a refreshing beer is a must!
THIS TOUR CAN BE TACKLED WITH PEDAL-ASSISTED MOUNTAIN BIKES WITHOUT THE AID OF SHUTTLES, PEDALLING THE ENTIRE CLIMB FROM GERA LARIO. THE PORTAGE TO THE SUMMIT OF MONTE BERLINGHERA CAN BE AVOIDED BY TAKING THE VIKING TRAIL DIRECTLY. IN THIS CASE, THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE HEIGHT DIFFERENCE WILL BE 1450 M.
